Cambiar ’16 houses overwhelming turnout

Cambiar ’16 houses overwhelming turnout

Manipal: An overwhelming number of first year students turned up as Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) hosted Cambiar – Leader’s Meet 2016 on September 28 at the New Lecture Hall (NLH). Being a single platform where clubs of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) introduce themselves to the freshers, Cambiar aimed at familiarising the first year students to the wide range of clubs and organisations operating in MIT, to help them make an informed selection.

Leaders of various clubs and organisations introduced the ideology of their respective clubs and introduced the audience to their activities. The clubs ranged from technical, social, media organisations to dance crews, fashion clubs and many more. This year, there were a total of 18 clubs sharing the platform as compared to the 14 clubs last year. The annual event hosted by Leaders of Tomorrow has become a source of clarity for the first years mitigating the chances of confusion while selecting a club to be involved in. “It was really informative. I knew about the clubs through the orientation classes but I have received much more information through this platform. I am excited about the recruitments now. There are many clubs that have interested me,” said Rebecca Mathew, a first year MIT student.

The crowd was efficiently managed by the organisers of the event which was conducted in over three classrooms in NLH. “We were ready for the crowd unlike last year. I am really happy about the turnout. I guess it is because of better publicity or maybe because we kept updating people. I hope to see many more successful Cambiars in the coming years,” said Leon Mathias, representative, Leaders of Tomorrow.

The event was characterised by the overwhelming turnout. “The turnout this year is really good this year. All of the classrooms are overloaded with people. It is great to see such an enthusiastic response from the first years. It has raised my expectations of seeing a good turnout at our GBM,” said Archit Verma, representative, Rotary Club.

For those who missed the event, the recruitment details of each of the clubs are posted on their Facebook page by Leaders of Tomorrow.
