Manipal: The Congress Party held a celebratory rally through the Manipal Main Road past Tiger Circle (TC) on March 22. The rally was the largest in a series of vehicular rallies organised by the party after their victory in a by-election for the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha seat on March 21 by a margin of 45,724 votes.
The poll gained special significance since the seat in question was that of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief Minister Sadanand Gowda, who vacted the seat upon assuming power. This particular rally slowed down traffic for over half an hour on the Main Road, from TC to Eshwar Nagar.
