Article-19, the three-day annual core communication event of the School of Communication (SOC) was inaugurated by renowned journalist and RJ Vasanthi Hariprakash on February 8 at the SOC Auditorium. School of Communication formerly, known as Manipal Institute of Communication is organizing Article-19, one of India’s oldest communication fest, from February 8-10.
After the welcome address by the Director of SOC, Padma Rani, the stage was taken over by RJ Vasanthi. As someone who has replete experience in the fields of journalism, radio-jockeying, media hosting among other areas of expertise, Vasanthi shared her experiences with the students on the topic “Is your degree sufficient to conquer the media world?” She provided an insightful glimpse into a world of professionalism, drawing in from her own experiences.
The three-day fest hosts several talks including those by journalists Rajeev Bhattacharyya and Vinod K. Jose among others. It also hosts an array of competitions, formal and informal events. On Saturday evening the fest shall conclude with an official party, Fun Fair, marking an end to the three-day extravagance.
